Our vision is a Chesapeake Bay and watershed that is healthy and thriving; one in which natural systems and human communities are in balance. Interdisciplinary academic programs promote the integration of environmental issues, social values, and good old river mud.

Mission

The CES mission recognizes that we live in a world with increasing environmental and related social problems that are rapidly reaching crisis levels. We need to work toward solving these problems ourselves, but we especially need a new generation of creative, solution-oriented leaders.

Everything we do prepares our undergraduates – the next generation of leaders – to help solve the most pressing environmental problems of the 21st Century through innovative curriculum, real-world experiences, training in cutting edge technologies, and new ways of thinking.

Our professionally trained counselors work with students whose concerns range from the every day challenges of college life to more disruptive psychological issues. THE GAMMA ETA CHAPTER
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY IN CHEMISTRY AT WASHINGTON COLLEGE

At Washington College, the Gamma Eta Chapter of Gamma Sigma Epsilon, National Honor Society in Chemistry, is to recognize outstanding students demonstrating exceptional ability and interest in the field of chemistry. The goal is to promote scholarship and professionalism and the overall welfare of its members, school, and community, as well as participate in outreach and community service activities.
Gamma Eta insures that the policies and practices pertaining to the membership of our organization do not discriminate based on sex, race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, marital status, handicap, age, and lifestyle.
Candidates for membership in the Chapter will have met the following requirements:
a. Have completed at least 20 hours of chemistry courses at Washington College.
b. Have a minimum grade point average of 3.3 in all chemistry courses and an overall GPA of at least 3.2.
Transfer students shall be eligible for membership after one semester at Washington College in which they have taken at least one chemistry course, if they also meet the requirements for membership.
Outstanding alumni and faculty who have made a positive impact on the Chapter, department, or the field of chemistry may be elected to membership as Honorary Members.

The Presidential Fellows Program will facilitate your vision and planning for your unique leadership pathway during your time at Washington College and beyond. From your very first semester to your senior year, you’ll collaborate with faculty, staff, and a diverse range of student organizations, but perhaps most importantly, with other Presidential Fellows. A vital portion of leadership skills development will happen student-to-student. By your senior year, you’ll assist a new cohort of Presidential Fellows to learn, lead, and grow.

Membership Benefits
First-year students who demonstrated academic excellence and involvement throughout high school may be invited to apply for the four-year Presidential Fellows Program. Fellows can access unique learning and exploration opportunities, priority course registration, possible additional scholarship dollars, and more. Presidential Fellows form a close-knit, focused community within the larger Washington College community.
